The Vaults of Terra, Songs on Repeat, and Staying on Task | 3-Bullet Blogs

legbracestv as a qtpie in hawaii

Hey squad! We just got back from our vacation to Hawaii (totally awesome wedding present!), which is why this blog is a little late. Sorry about that, and let’s all just pretend that I didn’t put on 10lbs from all the food and booze over the last week. k thx!

What I’m Watching

The Vaults of Terra

I absolutley love the Warhammer 40k universe, it’s just so dark and gritty with such amazing background stories. So even though it’s been quite a few years since I’ve played any of the tabletop games, I still watch/read/ingest anything lore related to the 40k universe. The Vaults of Terra is a channel that puts out WH40k lore videos (amongst other things) that give you a ton of interesting information and background (plus the dude has a pretty awesome accent XD ).

Here are a couple of my favorites to get you started, but pretty much all of the lore videos are awesome. Can’t wait for more in depth lore videos on the other races/species/armies!

What I’m Listening To

After re-listening to a Tim Ferriss podcast with Matt Mullenweg , I’ve started to listen to single songs on repeat when I need to get into “the zone”, and it’s really worked for me.

I’m not really sure what it is about this song, but it just resonates with me. Dubstep haters might want to avoid the track, although I really think that the total amount of “wub-wub” is pretty reasonable and compliments everything else well.

If you want to see more of the “why it works”, Joseph Mosby goes into more detail about it here

Something I’m Interested In

Momentum Dashboard

If you’ve watched my streams you can see that normally I’m all over the place, my brain just fires off in so many different directions. Well this used to happen during work as well, anytime I’d open a new browser tab I’d fall into a rabbit hole, and emerge an hour later still forgetting what I was SUPPOSED to be doing. Now meditation has helped with this problem, but there are also some outside tools that help keep me on task.

Then in came “Momentum”, a plugin for chrome. It replaces my new tab with a simple dashboard that has a place for my daily goal, to-do list, an inspirational quote, and a pretty picture (amongst other things). This way I’m reminded of what I’m supposed to be doing each time I open a new tab.

Now this isn’t to say that I don’t get distracted by the black hole of the internet (namely reddit and imgur, my kryptonite!), but it definitely happens alot less.

So that’s it for this week. Let me know what you think about the lore videos, if playing songs on repeat helps you at all, or if you have any productivity hacks/hints that you think would be helpful. Just post them in the comments below or let me know over on Twitter or Twitch!
